Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The participants for this study included patients: i. with clinical and radiological diagnosis (Computed Tomography Scan) of acute ischaemic stroke. ii. who were 40 years and older. iii. who were admitted to the hospital within 24 hours after the incidence of stroke. iv. with no major communication problem preventing them from understanding the protocol.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants excluded from the study were patients: i. that were in the intensive-care unit and/or patients with altered state of consciousness by having the problem of consciousness with =2 score on item one of National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). ii. with severe stroke having NIHSS scores>15 iii. with a score more than 0 on modified ranking scale before stroke or with any apparent physical disability before stroke onset. iv. with other type of stroke (haemmorhagic stroke).
