Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Geriatric patients aged 60 years or more scheduled for elective TKR. • Both genders will be included. • American society of anesthesiologists (ASA class) class I or II. • Surgery less than 3 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Age 30 kg m2 or <20 kg m2). • ongoing infection, immunological deficiency • After inclusion, patients were excluded if there was hemodynamic instability owing to bleeding or sepsis requiring infusion of fluids, blood, and inotropes intraoperatively.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The incidence of hypothermia (mild, core temperature 35 to 35.9ºC; moderate, 34.0ºC to 34.9ºC; severe, < 34.0ºC)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• Intraoperative blood loss. • Need for blood transfusion. • Blood sugar • Incidence of cardiovascular complications (bradycardia, hypotension, or arrythmia). • Incidence of shivering. • Duration of hospitalization. • Risk factors of hypothermia in patients undergoing TKR.
