Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a) Women and men aged at least 18 years. b) Participant consent c) Having moderate symptoms of common mental disorders (depressive, anxiety, or posttraumatic stress symptoms): determined as PHQ-9 cutoff of =10 or GAD-7 cutoff of =10 or PTSD Screen for DSM 5 cutoff =3. d) Can speak English or Swahili.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a) Individuals will be excluded from the study if they are considered at risk of ending their life or display severe mental disorders (i.e., psychotic disorders and substance dependence) or severe cognitive impairment (i.e., severe intellectual disability or dementia or depression). Individuals meeting exclusion criteria will be referred to a local hospital where mental health services are available. b) Refusing to consent.

Changes in self-reported depression symptoms as measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire - 9 from baseline to 5-week endpoint. ;Changes in self-reported anxiety symptoms, measured by the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Screener - 7 from baseline to 5-week endpoint.;Changes in self-reported post-traumatic stress symmptoms, measured by the Primary Care PTSD Screen for DSM 5 from baseline to 5-week endpoint

Changes in perceived social support from baseline to 5-week endpoint, as measured by the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support;Changes in self-reported wellbeing, measured by the WHO-5 Well-Being Index;Changes in self-reported functional impairments, measured by the short version of WHO Disability Assessment Schedule WHODAS-12;Changes in self-reported levels of personally identified problems for which person is seeking help, measured by the Psychological Outcome Profiles (PSYCHLOPS) ;A feedback scale will be used to collect acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility data from participants. The participants will be asked questions on the usefulness of the program, whether they understood the contents of the program, whether they would recommend the program to a friend, the most and least helpful elements of the program, and their overall experience.
