Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Booked ante natal care patients Diagnosed for the first time with GDM Gestational age of 24-28weeks Gave consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes 2. Any pregnant woman who was already on insulin or metformin treatment. 3. Maternal hypersensitivity or intolerance to metformin, 4. Mothers with a congenitally malformed fetus 5. Liver diseases 6. kidney diseases 7. severe cardiac 8. neurologic disease 9. Any obstetric high risk condition(s)
