Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: age18-40 years old, body mass index (BMI) =25 kg/m2, stable body weight and diagnosis of T2DM for at least 3 months prior to the study, stable medication doses for at least 1 month for the treatment of T2DM,

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: pregnancy or breastfeeding, type 1 diabetes, secondary diabetes (e.g. cystic fibrosis, steroid induced, etc.), advanced renal failure with a creatinine clearance under 40 ml/min, established coronary heart disease.
