Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Postmenopausal women aged 45 to 65 years old, experiencing hot flashes, at least 12 months since the last menstruation with no history of hormone use, depression, and anti-anxiety drugs over the past two months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Women with known history of gastrointestinal diseases, haematological disorders (pernicious anaemia, aplastic and normocytic anaemia, pathologic deficiency of vitamin B12), Participants having depression, renal, liver, heart, and hypothyroidism disease. Women on the following drugs were also excluded: • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in large therapeutic doses (interfere with folate metabolism) • Anticonvulsants such as phenytoin (inhibit the intestinal absorption of folate) • Cholesterol-lowering agents such as cholestyramine (decrease the absorption of folic acid) • As well, as drugs with antifolate activities such as methotrexate and trimethoprim. • Sulfonamide drugs, sulfasalazine, estrogen, or any chemotherapy and daily multivitamins.
