Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Clinical diagnosis of type 2 diabetes 2. Age at diagnosis >18 years 3. >3 months’ diabetes duration 4. No initial insulin requirement for = 1 year since the time of diagnosis 5. No change in glucose-lowering therapy in the previous 3 months at the time of screening 6. Able to give informed consent and willing to participate in study-related procedures

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Current pregnancy 2. Critically ill patients that need admission 3. Need an immediate increase of their glucose-lowering medication or insulin
