Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 40-60 years. 2. Patients are ASA I or ASA II 3. Patients scheduled for abdominal hysterectomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Pre-operative regular medication with opioids and benzodiazepines, alcohol abuse, known sleep disturbance, known endocrine disease 2) Patient refusal to participate in the study 3) Known allergy to lidocaine 4) History of uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes mellitus, and other endocrine disorders 5) Heart block greater than first degree 6) use of medication known to affect the sympathetic response or hormonal secretion
