Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients aged 18-45 years, singleton pregnancy, vertex, breech or transverse presentation, intact membranes

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: multiple pregnancy, history of ruptured membranes before CS, evidence of chorioamnionitis before CS, history of diabetes –pregestational or gestational diabetes-, immunocompromised state –prolonged steroid therapy-, fetal demise, preterm birth < 37 weeks, placenta previa or accreta.

Design outcomes

Primary

Measure	Time frame
To assess rates of post- partum endometritis (maternal fever > 38 degrees centigrade, maternal tachycardia, uterine tenderness).	—

Secondary

Measure	Time frame
- To assess rates of post-partum hemorrhage and retained placenta or products of conception in both groups. - To assess postoperative complications in both groups (wound problems, estimated blood loss, duration of hospital stay, readmission rates)	—
