Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Mothers of neonates in the Kenyatta national hospital postnatal wards and born via spontaneous vertex delivery mothers of Term neonates weighing = 2,500 grams Informed consent given by the mother

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Mothers of neonates in Kenyatta national hospital postnatal wards born via caesarian section. Mothers of Neonates with an illness requiring admission at the time of the study Mothers of Neonates admitted in the newborn unit

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Knowledge retention of neonatal danger signs post intervention i.e. health education with a video. Thsi was assessed at 1 week and 4 weeks post intervention.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Acceptability of the video for health messaginf was assessed at the end of the study period and only in the intervention arm.
