Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients assigned for lumbar discectomy and were of ASA grade I or II were enrolled in the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included emergency cases, obesity with body mass index > 30 kg/m2, expected difficult intubation, multiple level lumbar disc prolapse, previous chest surgery, restrictive pulmonary diseases, bleeding diathesis, presence of asthmatic bronchitis, or cardiac, hepatic or renal compromise, allergy to anesthetics or drugs planed to be used.
