Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients in the age group (40-70 years) with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification I,II,III scheduled for elective cataract surgery under regional anesthesia,

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: unco-operative patients and those with axial length(AL) more than 28 millimeters(mm), posterior staphyloma , complicated vitreous hemorrhage or contraindications to local anesthesia were excluded. Preparation of all patients:

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary outcomes were degree of akinesia of the globe, degree of pain experienced during surgery and measured using a numeric pain rating scale (NPR) (1 to 10) and degree of patient's satisfaction.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
econdary outcomes were the need for supplemental injection with local anesthetic solution, occurrence of complications which were classified into local complications (examples include retrobulbar haemorrhage, globe perforation, optic nerve damage and increased intra-occular pressure) and systemic complications (examples include respiratory depression, cardiopulmonary arrest).
