Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient with age ranging from 45-55 years; (ii) duration of illness ranged from six months to one year; (iii) The muscle tone of affected lower limb ranged from 1 to 1+ according to Modified Ashworth Scale ; (iv) Patients had a brunnstrom stage of 4 for lower limb; (v) having the ability to walk 10 meters independently without assistance; Ability to understand and follow the researcher¿s instructions; (vi) Ability to communicate and understand with Mini-Mental Status Examination score of over 24 points

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (i) previous stroke or other neurological diseases or disorders. (ii) balance disorders due to cerebellar or vestibular dysfunction; (iii) orthopedic disorders (i.e. severe osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral nerve injuries, history of fractures or surgeries involving lower limbs, pelvis, or back, or significant low back pain); (iv) marked superficial and/or deep sensory loss, deafness, blindness and cognitive impairment (inability to follow simple verbal commands during testing); (v) an open skin wound or skin disease; (vi) fecal incontinence; (vii) fearful of walking in an underwater environment.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
measurement of dynamic balance indices including over all stability index, anteroposterior stability index and mediolateral stability index by using the biodex balance system.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
measurement of kinematic gait parameters including walking speed,stride length and step length by using the gait trainer system.
