Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: ¿ Children aged 6 to 23 months who had been initiated to complementary feeding and their mothers. ¿ Moderately malnourished children (less than -2 Z scores to greater than -3 Z scores weight -for ¿height based on WHO Child Growth Standards, 2006). ¿ Mothers of moderately malnourished children aged 6 to 23 months willing to participate in the study. Severely malnourished children were referred to KHC. ¿ Children whose mothers would be resident in Kiandutu slums for at least six months from the time of recruitment into the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: ¿ Children whose parents did not give informed consent and were not willing to participate in the study. ¿ Children who were severely malnourished or well nourished (less than -3 Z scores and above -2 Z scores weight ¿for- height). ¿ Children whose parents did not intend to live in Kiandutu slums for a period of at least 6 months at the time of recruitment into the study. ¿ Children whose parents or caretakers did not allow home visits. ¿ Children obtaining nutrition support from elsewhere.
