Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study included chronic hypertensive out-patients attending (Tuesdays and Thursdays) a Community Health Centre, Gugulethu, Cape Town

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The study excluded men and women < 18 years of age; who did not have access to a cell phone; who had an additional chronic condition, such as diabetes.
