Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Three to 12-years olds admitted to the emergency department and undergoing either:1) venapuncture or placement of an intravenous line; 2) wound dressing; 3) application of a temporary splint 4) Injection of local anesthesia and suturing of open wounds or 5) application of a permanent plaster of Paris splint.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children withany hearing impairment, developmental disability, altered level of consciousness Children may also be excluded at the discretion of the attending staff if they feel the study interferes with the treatment or if it would be too delicate to ask for consent, e.g. in case of intentional trauma.
