Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.All patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgery at BMC during the study period 2.Patients who will consent to participate in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. All patients with open contaminated fractures 2. Administration of any other antibiotic within the 7 days preceding surgery and/or at the time of surgery; 3.Known history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactams; 4.Renal insufficiency, immunodeficiency disorders, severe HIV infection, pregnancy and diabetes 5.Previous or preexisting infection of soft tissue, bone or at the site of the fracture
