Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age above 18 2. Chronic subdural haematoma diagnosed on CT Scan requiring surgical management as determined by the neurosurgeon.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients who are already on corticosteroids for other reasons 2. Patients with contraindications for corticosteroid use 3. Patient refusal 4. Patients who require early (within 6 weeks) re-commencement of antiplatelet or anti-coagulant therapy as determined by the physician

1) To compare the proportion of patients with clinical resolution via a Markwalder Grading Scale to assess neurological outcome ;2) To compare the proportion of patients with residual collection requiring a second operation;3) To determine frequency of complications from steroid use
