Inclusion criteria: 18 years or older Auto-intoxication with pharmaceutical medication and/or drugs
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Younger than 18 years Auto-intoxication involving alcohol exclusively Auto-intoxication due to an unknown substance

| The primary endpoint is to characterize complications occurring in hospitalized patients with acute auto-intoxications and to describe the medical interventions required. Complications will be categorized according to type and severity and analyzed in relation to the substance(s) involved. The following variables will be evaluated: type and severity of complication, the time interval between substance ingestion and the onset of complication(s), the primary reason for admission the type of hospital ward to which the patient was admitted. The association between intoxication category and complication type will be investigated. Potential determinants of complication: type and severity will also be explored, including; substance category, sex, age, psychiatric history and if the intoxication was deliberate or accidental. | — |

| Secondary outcomes include the frequency of consultation with a hospital pharmacist and/or poison control center, the association between such consultations and complication rates, length of hospital stay and reasons for deviations from the recommended observation period. | — |
