Age
18 Years to 64 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Female Aged 18-40 yearsNever been pregnant (nulliparous)Continuous or recurrent pelvic pain for 6 months or longerNo known cause for the pelvic painNot menopausal, or experiencing early symptoms of menopause

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Currently pregnantA history of or 1st degree family members (parents, siblings, children) with epilepsy, convulsions or seizuresPast brain surgery A pacemaker or intra-cardiac wires An implanted neurostimulator Cochlear implants Implanted medication infusion device Broken skin in the area to be contactedMultiple sclerosisLarge ischaemic scarsIncreased intracranial pressure diagnosed by a physician

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The main study parameters/ outcome measures are pain quantified using the numeric rating scale, and pain-related emotions probed using the Beck Depression Inventory. 

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The remaining questionnaire data (multi-dimensional pain inventory, short form-12 and pain catastrophizing scale), PFM contraction (quantified using EMG and intra-vaginal pressure) and the neurophysiological measures will be used as secondary outcomes.
