18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: In order to be eligible to participate in this study, a subject must meet one of the following criteria: Medical specialists involved in requesting or performing post-mortem investigation and/or genetic testing following pediatric SCD, including: In-hospital specialists: General pediatricians (regional hospitals and university medical centers (UMCs)), Pediatric cardiologists, Pediatric intensivists, Emergency department physicians (regional hospitals and UMCs), Clinical geneticists, Pathologists. Outpatient specialists: Forensic physicians.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A potential subject who meets any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study: Healthcare professionals who do not have experience with offering or performing post-mortem investigation and/or genetic testing in pediatric SCD cases.

The main study parameters consist of responses to the descriptive questionnaires (including multiple-choice and open-ended questions) that explore healthcare professionals’ experiences, identify perceived gaps, and examine opportunities to improve the current clinical pathway, with a focus on autopsy (patient) and genetic testing (patient, parents and (half-)siblings) following pediatric SCD.
