Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measures are: Cardiorespiratory data (Oxygen uptake (VO2), carbon dioxide output (VCO2), and Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER). These data will be monitored using an Oxycon (portable metabolic system) to assess the proportion of fat and carbohydrate metabolism; Power Output (Pedal wattage would be measured to determine the physical effort exerted by the cyclist); Heart Rate and Perceived Effort (Borg scale for rating of perceived exertion); Energy Expenditure: The overall energy consumption will be calculated based on these measurements.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Characteristics of the participants that will be collected at the start of the test: VO2max of the participants (in ml/kg/ min), Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) will be presented in kCal/min. body composition measurements (height in cm, weight in kg, fat percentage (in %), participants age and sex, PAR-Q answers.
