Interventions

We will follow families from 2 months before birth (around 29 weeks of gestation) until 12 months postpartum using:&nbsp
Sets of repeated questionnaires: 2 months before birth, at week 6, 3 and 6 months after birth
and a set of follow-up questionnaires 1 year postpartum.Continuous wearable measurements: smartwatch for both parents from 2 months before birth, and a proximity sensor and cry detector after birth, a

Age
No minimum to 64 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Both partners 18 years or olderExpectant parents between 12-25 weeks of gestation (same-gendered couples, in which one of the partners is pregnant, are also welcome to participate)One partner carrying a singleton pregnancy Partners are cohabitating Sufficient understanding of the Dutch language

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Parents: Severe psychiatric conditions (e.g., schizophrenia, borderline, bipolar disorder)Current treatment of depression or anxiety disorderSevere physical impairments that may interfere with participation in the studyDrug or alcohol addiction problems  After childbirth, a second screening round will be employed in which we will screen for the following exclusion criteria:Infant:Born at < 37 weeks Major congenital anomalies or health problems Birthweight < 2500 gram 5-minute Apgar score < 7Parents:Serious health problems or complications that preclude participation in the study.

MeasureTime frame
Main study parameters include parental mental health (depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress), physical health and sleep, and infant physical health, well-being, sleep, and development. 

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary study parameters include an overview of night-time dynamics and the change over time, parental bonding, parental self-efficacy, and parental fatigue.
