Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women: Informed consent18-40 years oldPregnant or previously pregnant (parous)Current diagnosis of preeclampsia (PE) and/or fetal growth restriction (FGR) < 34 weeks or history of PE and/or FGR with a diagnosis < 34 weeks of gestation and age-matched controls with no PE and/or FGR and no history of PE and/or FGR     Partners: Informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Women: Immune related disorders that likely influence the primary outcome Fever/illness within the last monthFertility treatment (ovulation induction, intra-uterine insemination (IUI), in vitrofertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI))Major congenital abnormalitiesRecurrent pregnancy loss No previous PE / FGR pregnancy (in case the woman has/had a healthy pregnancy)Partners:No PE / FGR pregnancies conceived with other women (in case current partner has a healthy pregnancy)No healthy pregnancies conceived with other women (in case current partner has a PE /FGR pregnancy)  

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary objective is to analyse the amount of in vitro maternal T-cell proliferation, expressed as the proportion of EdU-positive T cells among total peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs), upon incubation with isolated paternally derived polymorphic proteins during and after pregnancy, and to compare this between healthy pregnancies and those complicated by PE and/or FGR.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary objective is to analyze the phenotype of peripheral T cells, including immune checkpoint expression levels, during and after pregnancy and to compare this between healthy pregnancies and pregnancies complicated by PE and/or FGR.
