Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients admitted to the intensive care with an expected stay longer than 72 hours.Arterial catheter placement as a planned procedure for patient monitoring.Age > 18 years.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Blood transfusion within 24 hours prior to measurements.Signs of active bleeding.Brain injury, meningitis, encephalitis or cerebrovascular event.Contraindication for in-bed cycling due to trauma, surgery or disability.Indwelling arterial or central venous catheter in the groin.Patients with an indication for mechanical ventilation in prone position.Cardiac arrhythmias with a heart rate < 50 or > 120 bpm.Evidence of myocardial ischemia on EKGPatients admitted with deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
