Interventions
We compare denervation of the nerve branches responsible for pain of the CMC-1 joint (intervention group) with trapeziectomy (removal of the trapezium) (control group / usual care).

Age
18 Years to 99 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: In order to be eligible to participate in this study, a participant must meet all of the following criteria:18 years or older, with clinical and radiological CMC-1 OA, and willing to comply with the study protocol.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: A potential participant who meets any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study:concomitant influential pathology of the ipsilateral hand, a history of surgery on the CMC-1 joint, and an inability to complete study forms due to any mental status or insufficient command of the Dutch language.
