MeasureTime frame
Clinical characteristics of the patient (entered in the Feverkidstool) are collected prospectively. These include: age, sex, duration of fever, ill appearance, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, capillary refill time, chest retractions, and serum CRP (mg/L). Additionally, it is recorded whether the child has comorbidities, is admitted, and/or receives antibiotic treatment. Comorbidity is characterized by severity (complex/non-complex) and by the affected organ system (e.g., cardiac, neurological, immunological, etc.). These data are used for analysis a. A key file linking the entries in the Feverkidstool to the registration in the EHR will be maintained to properly evaluate care. Data collection in the Feverkidstool complies with privacy and security requirements as defined in NEN7510 and ISO27001 for handling protected information. From the medical record, based on the registered “reason for visit” and recorded temperature, the number of children with fever visiting the emergency department of participating hospitals will be identified, as well as the total number of emergency department visits. These data, together with the number of registrations per hospital as recorded in the FKT web application, will be used for analysis b.
