Join Us is an organization which focusses on targeting and preventing loneliness in youth. Join Us has 2 indicated prevention programs, all with a different method of delivery namely Real life and Onl
a minimum of 16 meetings in real life. Meetings take place every two weeks, last 2.5 hours each and are guided by two health professionals. Join Us online follows a specific protocol and consists of 1

Age
12 Years to 64 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals are included when they (1) report feelings of loneliness (indicated as sometimes, often, or always in the past two weeks), (2) are 15 to 26 years old, (3) have online consent from parents/caregivers/legal representatives to participate in this research (only for those below the age of 16), (4) have given online consent themselves, (4) applied for support at the Join Us website. 

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria:  Exclusion criteria are indicated by the supervisor during an initial interview and consist of (1) having insufficient proficiency in the Dutch language, (2) lack of motivation to join an intervention, (3) elevated risk of aggressive behaviors, and (4) elevated suicide risk.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome is self-reported feelings of loneliness.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
We will examine the effectiveness of the Join Us interventions on secondary outcomes, that is, self-esteem, stress, anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, knowledge about the origin of own loneliness, positive peer interaction, social network characteristics, social and societal functioning, treatment satisfaction, non-attendance and drop-out of the intervention.
