Interventions

In 15 patients, four zygomatic implants (quad zygoma) will be placed under general anaesthesia. The zygomatic implants will be loaded immediately.

Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: In order to be eligible to participate in this study, a subject must meet the following criteria: patients are at least 18 years old and in need for an implant supported overdenture. Furthermore, unsufficient bone volume is present to allow conventional implant placement

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Potential subjects are excluded in case of active periodontal disease, maxillary sinus infection, acute inflammatory oral disease, smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, prolonged use of bisphosphonates, a history of radiotherapy in the head- and-neck region, current chemotherapy and disability (mental and/or physical) to maintain basic oral hygiene procedures

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary endpoint is the 5-year oral health related quality of life (OHIP-20), as measured preoperatively, and after one, three and five years. 

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary endpoints are implant survival and success, clinical performance of the prosthesis, complications and costs
