Age
No minimum to 64 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - For the clinical effectiveness, thus the screening instrument, all children aged 0 to 18 years presenting to the emergency department are included. - For the implementation evaluation including training, all stakeholders (meaning all ED personnel) are included. 

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hospitals are excluded when the ED does not provide care for children aged 0-18 years old or when the hospital already has adequate comparable screening strategies in place in accordance with the CAN-Ready (screening instrument, training and hospital policy)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Screening rate including negative versus positive screening results, compared between baseline measure and at 3 and 6 months after implementation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Implementation evaluation through surveys and semi-structured interviews, assessing barriers and facilitators, and changes in level of confidence.
