All participants will consume a dinner consisting of 1, 2 or 4 minced beef patties corresponding to 0.32, 0.74, and 1.32 g protein?kg BM-1 amongst a whole-food standardized diet&nbsp
during 3 separate experimental trials.&nbsp

Age
18 Years to 64 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male or femaleAged between 18-35 years BMI between 18.5-30 = kg?m2 inclusiveHealthy, recreationally active (exercise at least once per two weeks and a maximum of four days per week)No physical limitations (i.e., able to perform all activities associated with daily living independently)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: SmokingVegan, vegetarian, or does not consume beef proteinDiagnosed musculoskeletal, metabolic, and/or GI tract disorders or diseasesUse of any medications known to affect protein metabolism (i.e., corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, or prescribed acne medications)Chronic use of gastric acid-suppressing medication or anti-coagulantsUnstable weight over the last three monthsBlood donation in the past 2 months Females: pregnancy

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary objective: To assess the amino acid oxidation dose-response relationship of ingested whole-food protein.Primary endpoint: Amino acid oxidation of ingested protein.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary objective: To assess the plasma amino acid response to different amounts of ingested whole-food protein.Secondary endpoints: Plasma amino acid concentrations, 13CO2 production rate, plasma glucose, plasma insulin, and plasma amino acid enrichments.
