Age
65 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged = 70 years or older, accepted for cardiac surgery and who are invited to the preoperative outpatient screening or are waiting in other hospitals to be transferred to Medisch Spectrum Twente.  Patients who are capable to understand the research procedures and to provide informed consent 

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients are excluded when (According to Instructions for use, v 15-07-2021): - taking lithium or clozapine,  - under sedation (RASS -3),  - metal parts or metal equipment in the head, - diagnosed with dementia, acute brain damage, or other conditions that affect EEG signals (such as acute brain damage). The above-mentioned issues can influence the EEG signals and can give higher DeltaScan scores than expected. In patients having metal parts in their head, unpredictable measurements can occur. 2. SC-EEG measurements cannot be performed in the ICU for a period of 72 hours. These patients have a longer postoperative process and will have a different follow-up than the study protocol prescribes.
