Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Validation study: ACNES patients: Patients 12 until 17 years at the time of diagnosis Diagnosed with ACNES Pain free after lidocaine injection or neurectomy Treated in the MMC in the last 5 years. ;Non-ACNES patients Patients 12 until 17 years at the time of diagnosis Diagnosed with functional abdominal pain or abdominal pain of unknown cause Responded to treatment such as hypnotherapy, psychotherapy or another therapy unlikely to affect ACNES complaints Diagnosed at the MMC between 01-01-2011 until 31-12-12. ;Presence evaluation study: Patients between 12-17 years at the time of diagnosis Patients diagnosed with functional abdominal pain or abdominal pain of unknown cause Patients presented themselves between 01-01-2011 and 31-12-12 on the Department of Pediatrics in the Máxima Medical Centre Laboratory or imaging findings suggested no abnormalities.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients that were 18 years or older or 11 years old and younger at the time of diagnosis Patients diagnosed with ACNES Another illness found later could explain the complaints Laboratory or imaging findings suggest abnormalities (related to another diagnosis).

1. The score per question on a questionnaire with 27 questions. Children can receive 0 or 1 point per question, with a minimum total score of 0 en a maximum score of 27 points. 2. The presence or absence of ACNES per patient, with as final outcome to evaluate the total/absolute presence of ACNES in a hospital population of children with abdominal pain of unknown cause.	—
