Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Elderly people aged > 65 years Elderly people receiving 'Joint Care' for elective hip arthroplasty in hospital Gelderse Vallei

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with severe heart disease Patients who do not understand Dutch

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Serum vitamin D concentrations and muscle strength (hand grip strength).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Muscle power (chair rise time), physical functioning (timed up and go test, 10 meter walking test, LAPAQ questionnaire, WOMAC questionnaire), descriptive measures (such as age, gender, co-morbidity, medication use and use of vitamin D supplementation), postoperative complications and length of hospital stay.
