Inclusion criteria: Elderly people aged > 65 years Elderly people receiving 'Joint Care' for elective hip arthroplasty in hospital Gelderse Vallei

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with severe heart disease Patients who do not understand Dutch

Serum vitamin D concentrations and muscle strength (hand grip strength).	—

Muscle power (chair rise time), physical functioning (timed up and go test, 10 meter walking test, LAPAQ questionnaire, WOMAC questionnaire), descriptive measures (such as age, gender, co-morbidity, medication use and use of vitamin D supplementation), postoperative complications and length of hospital stay.	—
