Inclusion criteria: A child must visit the ED.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Subjects who have indicated their data may not be used for research purposes are excluded.

| This is a descriptive study with the aim to improve the identification of children with severe illnesses. The outcome, thus, consists of several commonly used markers for severe illness, including (intensive care) admission, possible/probable bacterial infections, and a composite outcome of several diagnostic and therapeutic items reflecting illness severity. | — |

| Secondary study parameters include clinical risk factors retrieved from free text by the language model (e.g. delayed capillary refill, work of breathing, consciousness, ill appearance), diagnosis based on ICD-10 code, and comorbidity, based on ICD-10 code and consequently classified into non-complex and complex chronic disease according to the Pediatric Medical Complexity Algorithm. | — |
