Inclusion criteria: Adults age (age = 18 years) admitted to the ICU

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients < 18 years of age;Pregnancy

MeasureTime frame
The main endpoint of this study is to describe the trend of the main microcirculatory parameters in the context of critical illness. The three determinants of microcirculation function that can be studied with hand-held vital microscopy are convection, diffusion and leukocyte function.Convection parameters describe red blood cells flow, and are the RBCv and/or MFI; Diffusive parameters describe the distance oxygen must travel from the RBC to the tissue cells and are the TVD, the PPV and the FCD, together with the tRBCp and the capillary hematocrit;Leukocytes are visualized as white spots in the context of black haemoglobin-containing vessels and can be numbered and identified as rolling (activated) or non-rolling on the vascular walls.
