Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Subjects should be at least 18 years old and mentally competentPatients with ovarian carcinoma undergoinig primary debulkingPatients with ovarian carcinoma undergoinig intervaldebulkingPatients without a malignancy undergoing surgery for benign gynaecological conditionsPatients planned for an exploratory laparotomy with frozen section

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known inflammatory or infectious diseases or an immunosuppressive statusUsing medication interfering with the immune systemSevere comorbidities: other active malignancy (except for basal cell carcinoma and other in situ carcinomas)Serious psychiatric pathologyA self-reported alcohol consumption of >21 units per weekMentally incompetentPregnant or breastfeedingBMI >/= 32 kg/m2
