Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Patients receiving vascular access surgery at Maastricht UMC+ - Patients receiving a first ipsilateral upper arm arteriovenous graft (straight and loop configurations and different graft materials can be included) - Patients 18 years and older and mentally competent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Patients with a life expectancy of less than one year - Patients with central venous stenosis at baseline - Patients with contraindications for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
We will provide a descriptive evaluation of blood flow patterns and derived parameters in our hemodynamic models, which is common practice in studies on computational fluid dynamics simulations in vascular access. The secondary study parameters are the degree of stenosis at which the graft is at risk of thrombosis according to the computational fluid dynamics model, and the associations between hemodynamic parameters and future stenosis development.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Not applicable.
