Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The main study parameter is change in the frequency and severity of aggressive behaviour after NMDHL treatment. Aggressive behaviour will be evaluated by pre- and post-therapy administration of two self-report questionnaires and one partner questionnaire. Predictors that are hypothesised to be of influence on treatment effect are offender subtype, psychiatric co-morbidity, personality traits, stress reactivity, cognitive bias, motivation and treatment integrity. Offender subtype, psychiatric co-morbidity, personality traits, motivation and treatment integrity are assessed by self-report measures, a researcher-rated risk assessment instrument B-SAFER, semi-structured interview, and audiotaping sessions. Stress response is measured by cortisol level and a-amylase level before and after a stress induction test MAST. Social-cognitive bias is measured by FaceGen Modeller test. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Treatment integrity of NMDHL treatment will be assessed. In order to score treatment integrity an intervention checklist will be developed. NMDHL treatment sessions are being audiotaped and coded by means of the intervention checklist. The intervention checklist concerns protocol adherence as well as non-specific therapeutic techniques. | — |
