Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All subjects have to satisfy the following criteria in order to participate in the study at baseline: - Between 8-18 years of age - provide written informed consent (by child and parent) - do not have a major medical history - dutch speaking - IQ > 70Specific for offspring of SZ and BD (n =160 in each group): - at least one parent or sibling with a SZ or BD or, - two 2nd degree relatives with BD or SZ Additional criteria for MRI group (n=80 in SZ-group and n=120 in BD-group) of at risk offspring - do not use psychotropic medication - do not have ferrous objects in or around the body (e.g. braces, glasses, metal fragments) - do not have a history of epilepsy in first-degree relatives - no claustrophobiaSpecific for healthy subjects (n =80): - do not have a history of psychiatric illness - do not have a parent or a first-degree family member with a psychotic and/or mood disorder or other psychiatric illness - do not use psychotropic medication - do not have ferrous objects in or around the body (e.g. braces, glasses, metal fragments) - do not have a history of epilepsy in first-degree relatives - no claustrophobia
