Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age >=18 years. Hemodialysis treatment >=2 months. Conventional hemodialysis: twice or thrice weekly with 3-5 h per dialysis treatment. Nocturnal hemodialysis: thrice to four times weekly with 7-8 h per dialysis treatment Hemoglobin at previous routine monthly measurement greater than or equal to 6.5 mmol/l.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Absence of informed consent. Pregnancy Presence of clinical signs of infection. Incapacity of the Dutch language. Incapacity of filling out questionnaire,

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The main study parameter is the combined Interdialytic urinary and intradialytic dialysate excretion of creatinine, as a proxy for muscle mass.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary study parameters are handgrip strength and self-reported physical health using the SF-36, Checklist individual strength and the patient-generated subjective global assessment (PG-SGA) questionnaires.
