18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Non-trauma patients presenting to the ED who already receive oxygen therapy started by EMS or in whom oxygen therapy is started in the ED an in whom an infection is suspected - Adult (i.e. age > 18 years) - Able to provide (deferred) informed consent themselves or informed consent can be obtained via next of kin or legal gardian

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The variation in FiO2, PaO2, SpO2 and levels of oxidative stress among patients with an infection admitted to the ED who receive oxygen therapy.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- The correlation between baseline PaO2 and levels of oxidative stress in blood and urine in non-trauma ED patients receiving oxygen therapy; - To investigate if dynamic changes in PaO2 over time are related to changes in biomarkers of oxidative stress.
