Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Ambulatory Ability to walk without aid for 30 minutes Willing to participate and able to provide informed consent. 18 years or older

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Muscular skeletal, cardiopulmonary disorders or other diseases significantly influencing gait. Medical interventions, such as surgical treatment or botulinium toxin 6 months, which significantly influence gait.

MeasureTime frame
Primary outcome parameters are 3D gait kinematics and kinetics of the hip, knee and ankle (e.g. stance phase knee flexion, pelvic obliquity), spatiotemporal parameters (e.g. stride time, cadence, step width) and dynamic balance parameters (e.g. margins of stability, variability measures). The collected data will be used to create a database on gait parameters for healthy adults, which can be used to correctly interpret gait and to detect subtle changes/deviations in gait.

MeasureTime frame
Body height, body weight and leg length (distance between ASIS and medial malleolus) will be measured in order to collect a set of anthropometric characteristics which will be added to the database. In addition a standard physical examination is performed by the operator. During this examination the following aspects are evaluated: 1) articular motion of the hip (flexion, extension, edo- and exorotation, abduction), knee (flexion, extension) and ankle (dorsi- and plantar flexion), 2) lower extremity muscle strength using the MRC scale, 3) balance using the single leg standing test with eyes open and closed. Relations between subject characteristics (e.g. leg length) and gait parameters, and between gait characteristics (e.g. speed and margins of stability) are investigated.
