Inclusion criteria: - 18 years of age or older - Visiting for a second opinion

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Insufficient Dutch language proficiency - Visiting for a tertiary referral instead of a second opinion

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Patient-reported consequences of the SO: psychological well-being (i.e., anxiety, experience of uncertainty) and evaluation (i.e., satisfaction, trust) of the second opinion consultation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Observed communication within the SO consultation, i.e., relationship building, information gathering and providing information (moderator/predictor), using observational coding by two independent coders
