18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: CSA patients:Arthralgia on hand, wrist or feet joints that is according to the rheumatologist clinical suspect to become RA (e.g. because of an inflammatory type or the presence of morning stiffness)Recent onset of complaints (< 1 year) Age > 18 yearsWritten informed consent Healthy volunteers: Age =18 jaarNo complaints of joints (at this moment or in the three months priorly)No diagnosis of artritis or other rheumatological conditionNo use of NSAIDs 24 hours before the MRIWritten informed consent   

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: CSA patientsA potential subject who meets any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study as this precludes the presence of CSA:Presence of, or history of, clinically apparent arthritisPrevious or current treatment with DMARDs or corticosteroidsIf another condition or explanation for the pain is more likely (other than imminent RA), a patient does not have CSA Pregnancy and certain metal implants are not exclusion criteria for the total cohort, but only for MRI. Healthy volunteersMRI-contra-indication, like metal implants, pacemaker/ICD, vascular clips, pregnancy

MeasureTime frame
Clinical arthritis detected at physical examination by the rheumatologist, persisting arthritis (present at two subsequent visits) or initiation of treatment with Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs).
