Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Eligibility criteria of the schools are: 1) They are located in a low socio-economic neighborhood; 2) They have no plans to merge with another school or plans to relocate in the upcoming three years; 3) The school staff is willing to actively participate in KEIGAAF and work together with parents and local partners, e.g. sports professionals, social workers and/or municipality officers. ;Families are eligible for the KEIGAAF family intervention if they have one (or more) child(ren) labeled as overweight after calculating the Body Mass Index and adjusting it for age and gender (BMI z-score). The child is between the age of 8 and 11 years.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Schools will be selected on predefined conditions. There are no exclusion criteria applicable to the schools.;Families of which the child has a medical cause for his/her overweight are excluded from the study. If both parents do not understand and speak the Dutch language, they are also excluded from the study.

| The secondary study parameters of the school intervention are children*s physical activity behavior and sedentary behavior, physical activity on a normal school day, nutrition behavior at school, physical fitness, transportation to school, sports participation, physical activity enjoyment, physical activity preferences and food preferences. Socio-demographic variables like age, ethnicity, family composition and home address will also be assessed. The following outcomes concerning the home environment will be assessed (in the questionnaire for the parents): parental activity transportation routines, parental support to be active, the family health climate, self-reported height and weight (to calculate BMI) and socio-demographic variables like age, relation to the child, ethnicity, education level, educational level, hours of employment and home postal code. Secondary parameters of the overweight children participating in the family intervention are physical activity behavior, sedentary behavior and nutrition behavior (reported by the parents). Parents report their weight and height, to determine the Body Mass Index and lifestyle parenting practices will be assessed. Socio-demographic variables of the parents, like age, relation to the child, ethnicity, educational level and hours of employment of the parents will be measured. | — |
