Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient groups: -age 18 to 80 -cryptogenic or symptomatic epilepsy -premorbid FSIQ > 70;Healthy controls -age 18-80 -premorbid FSIQ > 70

MeasureTime frame
The main study parameters are: 1. Cognitive parameters, i.e. the neuropsychological parameters for global cognitive decline ( * 1SD discrepancy between current IQ and estimated premorbid IQ [4]), information processing speed, attention and memory. 2. MRI parameters: macrostructural, microstructural and functional, and blood brain perfusion.

MeasureTime frame
Secondary study parameters are: 1. Demographic parameters: gender, handedness, level of education. 2. Epilepsy related factors: type of epilepsy (i.e. cryptogenic, symptomatic), age at onset, seizure duration, seizure frequency per year, seizure type, history of SE. 3. Clinical factors: medical history, type and dose of medication.
