Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All children attending the 3rd and 4th grade of participating primary schools in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, at the start of the research.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with orthodontic devices

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The difference in the increase of dental caries using dmfs/DMFS after respectively 18 months and 30 months compared to baseline, between the study group and the control group.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The difference in plaque status between the study group and the control group after respectively 9, 18 and 30 months. The difference between the study group and control group in frequency of tooth brushing by the children themselves and the difference in frequency of tooth brushing by parents after respectively 18 and 30 months.
