Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: In order to be eligible to participate in this study, a subject in the case group should meet all of the following criteria: - Immigration from one the former Dutch Antilles or Aruba to Rotterdam as registrated by the Municipality during the first year of the study. - At least one parent born in one of the former Dutch Antilles or Aruba. - A self defined Antillean ethnicity. - Age in the inclusion period between 18 and 24 years old.;Inclusion criteria for the control group is an age between 18 and 24 years old and place of birth the Netherlands for participants as well as their parents. ;- A self defined Antillean ethnicity. - Age in the inclusion period between 18 and 24 years old.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: A potential subject who meets any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study (both case and control group): - Not able to give informed consent. - Clinical relevant psychotic symptoms at baseline.

| Both objective and subjective exposure variables of social defeat are assessed annually. Objective variables are work (freelance/contract), education (type of school, absentism, diplom), stable housing (living in with family, moving from place to place or own home) and neighbourhood characteristics. Subjective measurements are acculturation, perceived discrimination, sense of mastery and evaluation of self and others. The outcome variables, psychotic symptoms and crime, are also assessed at baseline and during follow-up. | — |
