Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Research group: Persons having Parkinson's disease and who are willing to cooperate, can be included in this study. Inclusion criteria are: Parkinson's disease, knowing the Dutch language, being able to give informed consent, age > 18 years. Control group: No Parkinson's disease. People in this group have same age and lifestyle compared to the research group. Inclusion criteria are: knowing the Dutch language, being able to give informed consent, age . 18 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Having a medical condition, other than Parkinson's disease, that effects the oral health situation. Taking medication that effects the oral health situation.

Measure	Time frame
Study variables included in the oral health assessment are: the number of teeth, the presence of a removable denture, the number of occluding pairs of teeth, caries, restorations, periodontal disease, and soft tissue lesions. Te questionnaire contains questions on oral self care, dental visits, and subjective oral health experience. In the research group, the severity of Parkinson's disease will be registered using the Hoenh and Yahr index.	—
